| | Sterling silver I use 925 sterling silver for all my jewellery and although it is a very beautiful and durable metal it can tarnish over time if not well looked after. Below are some simple tips for keeping your pieces shiny for years to come. Storing Your Pieces | Ideally, store your pieces in a cool, dark place in a tarnish- resistant material or pouch. | Showering | Whilst I do not recommend showering with your jewellery regularly, on occasion it won’t hurt as long as you dry it thoroughly. | Swimming Pools | As the chemicals in chlorine can damage silver over time, I do not recommend wearing it whilst swimming, however if you do forget to take it off just grab some warm soapy water when you get home, give it a gentle clean with a soft toothbrush and pat dry. | Sea Water | If you’re anything like myself, you won’t always remember to remove your jewellery before a salty dive. Although it’s best practice to keep your sterling silver out of the sea, you can preserve the shine and beauty of it by giving it a gentle clean with warm soapy water when you get home. | Perfume / Makeup | To avoid tarnishing your jewellery from any harsh chemicals in perfumes, lotions, hair sprays and makeup, ensure it is the last thing you pop on before heading out. | If you have any questions about looking after your items, get in touch.
